(More customer reviews)I've been a semi-pro musician & sound guy for about 25 years, and have used a lot of mics. EVs, AKGs, various condensers, and of course, the venerable Shure SM-57s, 58s, and the "Beta" series.

The Nady SP-5 is a no-brainer for 10 bucks. It's not a Shure Beta 58, but for $10, you're going to be hard pressed to do better. Sound is full and punchy with vocals, just like it should be with a good dynamic mic, feedback rejection is good, and it's built well, too. It's a pretty good mic, and not just "for the money". I'd say quality-wise, it's comparable to the Peavey & Shure mics in the $40-$60 range.

Of course the king of the budget mics is the Behringer XM8500. These are the equal to a Shure Beta 58, (a $150 mic) for $20!

Thanks to deals like these, nowadays even the most financially strapped garage band can stock up on decent mics for chump change. I remember only a few yearsago when $10 or $20 would get you a cheap plastic hunk of junk tape recorder mic from Radio Shack or Wal-Mart. How times have changed!

My came with the broken microphone. The company which makes this product is located in Borough Park, Brooklyn in New York City. I live in NJ and work in NY. So I decide to deal with this company directly to exchange the unit. I call Pyle and was told to come for a new unit exchange. When I arrived there the guy said why I came here, we don't have units here. He said that I should return the unit where I bought it.
He practically yields at me saying that too many people coming here for exchanges. He's attitude was set way before I came there. Imagine how many units are unreliable and how many people are unhappy.
I told him that I don't need a whole unit (they don't have them anyway. All of they products made in China). They only have broken products there, which they fix and sale again. Finally I talked the guy to bring me one unbroken mic form returned unit. I'll never buy anything from this company again.
In the manual it said that when mics fully charged the red light will turn green. This is completely untrue. The light stay red all the time and there is no way to know if mics was fully charged. I'm not with the sound of it ether. I had cheap wireless mics system which sounds the same. I used that system for 4 years before it got broken but it was cost me $20.
I'll never buy anything from this company again.

Although aware of the unreliability of a single review, I decided to gave it a shot, and paid $10 for shipping--no other way since it's sold through a third party. $28 later, I was holding the biggest $#!* I've seen in a while! The construction feels very cheap, and the instruction manual makes absolutely no sense as if written by a 3-year old. And the worst of all, only one of the two microphones worked. Even the one that works is horrible--the sound out of the speaker is very weak unless you cup your hand around your mouth and the mic. It uses a 9-volt battery in each of the two mics, and that's another 5 bucks out of my pocket. You know what?I'll probably have to eat the $33, since the seller does not refund any shipping charges and charges a hefty fee for returns. Well, I learned a lesson...things are cheap for a reason!
